Andre Pienaar


Andre is an entrepreneur and private investor with a record of building and leading fast growing businesses.

He is the Founder of the Good Governance Group, a leading international strategic advisory firm. Previously he built and lead Kroll’s Africa & Natural Resources Division out of London.

Andre is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of South Africa.







Sir Richard Paniguian

Executive Chairman, C5 Holdings

From 1971, he pursued an international career in BP, leading teams in marketing, oil trading, capital markets and shipping. Latterly he was Group Vice President for Russia, the Caspian, the Middle East and Africa. From 2008, he was Head of the UK Government’s Defence and Security Organisation, where he played a crucial role in developing UK defence and cyber exports.

He joined C5 in 2015. He has an MBA from INSEAD. He was awarded the CBE in 2007 for services to business and knighted in 2014 for services to UK Defence and Security.

Daniel Freeman

Chief Investment Officer

Daniel has over 16 years of public and private investment experience across EMEA and Asia, where he allocated capital on behalf of Deutsche Bank, Eton Park International LLP, Nomura, and Lehman Brothers. His areas of sector expertise include telecommunications, technology and financial services.

Daniel holds an AB in East Asian Studies (magna cum laude) from Princeton University and received an MBA (Distinction) from Harvard Business School.

Marcos Battisti

Partner and Head of C5 Cloud Partners

Marcos has been investing in technology venture and growth equity since the late 90s. He most recently held the position of Managing Director for Western Europe and Israel at Intel Capital, where he served as a member of the firm's Investment Committee.

He has backed and successfully exited companies such as Amplidata in Belgium, Aldebaran in France, Anobit in Israel and Azure Solution in the UK, amongst others. He most recently sat on the Board of Directors of VOSS (UK), Adaptive Mobile Security (Ireland) and Sigfox (France). Marcos was also a member of the Venture Capital Committee of the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association.

Kweilen Hatleskog


Kweilen is a seasoned corporate development executive and a previous Director of Mergers and Acquisitions at BAE Systems plc.

Having managed multiple security acquisitions and financial restructurings across numerous geographies, Kweilen brings significant operational experience and an industrial perspective to the development and management of C5's portfolio companies.

Marlène Metgé

Head of Fund Operations

Marlène has over fifteen years of international experience within the investment fund industry in Luxembourg, Berlin and London and was instrumental in setting up and leading C5 Fund Operations since 2014.

Before that she oversaw the investment operations and legal matters of Point Nine Capital / Team Europe, a Berlin based venture capital fund / incubator.

Previously she was a manager at the Luxembourg office of leading US private equity firm Carlyle, where she established the fund administration unit in Luxembourg for Carlyle European buy-out and venture capital funds.

She is fluent in German, French and English.

Paul Owsianowski


Paul is a Partner at C5. He was involved in the sourcing and execution and is actively working with C5’s investments in Omada, BalaBit and Metrasens.

Prior to C5, he was an investment banking professional at Evercore Partners in their M&A team, where he advised corporates and private equity firms on transactions and strategy. Transactions include the proposed merger between BAE and EADS, Cobham’s disposal of its safety equipment unit ARC systems to private equity firm J.F. Lehman, the sale of Optos to Nikon and the acquisition of Aesica by Consort Medical.

Endre A. Sagi

Investment Professional

Endre is an investment professional at C5 Capital, bringing significant investment and technology expertise to the investment team.

Previously he has worked as an investment banking professional in various roles, most recently as M&A Manager at KPMG Corporate Finance, where he advised clients on executing M&A transactions in the Technology and Industrials sectors. His areas of technology expertise include cyber security, big data and cloud computing infrastructure, capital markets financial technology and emerging automotive technologies.

Endre holds an Engineering Degree in Computer Science from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and an MBA from London Business School.

Alexander Richard Newman

Deputy Chair, IC

Alex is an experienced investor and business executive. After training at the London Metal Exchange and Comex, he set up and ran international sales and hedging operations for Antofagasta Minerals, where he was Corporate Finance Director, and then CFO.

He studied at the Royal Military College of Science, and later lectured on defense procurement to the UK Army Staff Course. He has also provided defense procurement advice to the British and American governments.

Ron Moultrie

Strategic Partner

Ron is a former Director of the National Security Agency’s Global Signals Intelligence Enterprise. He joined C5 with over 36 years of leadership within the military, intelligence community, and national security sectors.

Throughout his career, Ron has served in several of the most challenging national security assignments in the US and has held important posts as a member of the CIA’s Senior Intelligence Service, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, as well as with the United States military. He established Oceanus Security Strategies in November 2015 to provide unique counsel to clients on current and emerging cyber security threats.




Lord Gold

Non-Executive Director

Lord Gold is an LSE graduate and solicitor. He was a leading litigator and later Senior Partner of Herbert Smith LLP. He entered the House of Lords in February 2011, when he also established David Gold & Associates LLP, advising on dispute strategy and governance and ethics issues.

Lord Gold was Corporate Monitor of BAE Systems plc and has recently been advising Rolls-Royce plc in its review of governance and compliance. He has also been advising Serco on its compliance issues.

He is an accredited CEDR mediator and Governor of the LSE and has served as Chairman of the Conservative Party Disciplinary Committee.

Mike Garland

Strategic Partner

Mike is a Strategic Partner to C5 Capital and a former Partner of Permira, the global private equity firm. While at Permira he lead the Portfolio Group working extensively with the portfolio companies and serving on many different boards. He also worked on numerous transactions including Hogg Robinson, Homebase, Hugo Boss & Valentino, Provimi, Travelodge, New Look and Creganna.

Prior to joining Permira in 1990, Mike worked at Williams Holdings and at Price Waterhouse in London. Mike has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton, England, and is a Chartered Accountant.

Sir Iain Lobban

Sir Iain was the Director of the British Security and Intelligence agency GCHQ from mid-2008 to late 2014, having previously served as its Director-General of operations from 2004.His tenure represented more than ten years of operational delivery in counter-terrorism, cyber-security, support to Defence, and the prevention and detection of serious crime. He set new direction in Cyber Security for innovative partnerships internationally, with the private sector and with academia.

Sir Iain now focuses on the advocacy and demystification of Cyber Security, providing strategic advice and personal perspective, nationally and internationally, to governments and businesses.He is also active in entrepreneurship, in the broadest sense of the word.

Lt General Sir Graeme Lamb

Sir Graeme has had a long and distinguished military career with both the Regular and UK Special Forces, of which he was Director from 2001-2003.Graeme is a non-executive director of AEGIS, a leading private security company.

He has been formally recognised by Her Majesty's Government seven times for his service to the nation.

Jamie Lowther Pinkerton

Strategic Partner

Jamie was Principal Private Secretary to TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales from 2005-2013. Before that, he was a consultant designing security solutions for NGOs working in conflict and post-conflict regions.

He is a Trustee of the HALO Trust, the Varkey Foundation, Waterloo Uncovered, and the Royal Foundation of TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales.

Admiral Mike Mullen

Strategic Partner

Admiral Mullen served as 17th Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2007 -2011. He was principal military adviser to President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama and 28th Chief of Naval Operations from 2005-2007

Admiral Mullen has a MSc in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School and completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.

He currently serves on the boards of General Motors, InQTel and Sprint.
